Q & A

Nationality: Lithuanian
Plans after graduation: Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich

How long have you been dancing and what do you love most about it?
I’ve been training in the beautiful studios and with the amazing teachers of taZ since I was 14, However I  took my first ballet lesson 13 years ago, that was when I realized nothing can compare to the feeling dancing brings me. It allows me to express myself like nothing else. It gives me opportunities to alter the audience’s emotions and spread important messages all through my dancing.

What has been your most memorable moment at Zurich Dance Academy?
It is incredibly hard for me to pick one specific moment, as my time in taZ has been priceless. Every minute was significant in my journey, no matter how hard and impossible or joyful and amazing it might’ve felt in the moment. In the past four years my teachers, friends and family supported, helped and taught me so much. Zurich, living alone and dancing gave me experiences and showed me important things about life. I’m very grateful for all of it, as it has brought me here today, allowing me to take my first steps into my career as a dancer.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Healthy, happy, kind and strong. I see myself climbing up the hierarchy of ballet, gathering as much experience and knowledge as humanly possible in order to evolve my career into becoming a choreographer.

The best feeling on stage is for me…
… remembering all the hard work that I, my teachers and everyone else put into my dream of dancing on stage. Those thoughts reassure my mind to believe in my ability to execute the steps correctly. Going on stage is when I can finally completely trust my body and let go, dive into the pure joy and triumph that dancing brings me.

What advice would you give younger dancers hoping to grow and achieve their dreams in dance?
Stay authentic to who you are, take in as much knowledge and experience as you can, but don’t lose or change yourself for others. Discipline and hard work to grow and improve are very important, but don’t forget to have a good balance in life and enjoy your journey.
