Q & A

Nationality: Japanese

How long have you been dancing and what do you love most about it?
I have been dancing for over 15 years. For me, ballet is an art form that expresses emotions and stories through the body. I think it is fascinating that it can convey emotions without using words, and I love the sense of accomplishment after a performance when we work together to create a piece.

What has been your most memorable moment at Zurich Dance Academy?
It was the rehearsal period for the last summer performance. Of course, the performance itself left a strong impression on me, but I learned a lot from rehearsing for more than three months for a piece that lasted only a few minutes. I vividly remember overcoming the things that didn’t go well and the struggles I faced. The sense of accomplishment after the performance was a very significant memory.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Five years from now, I hope to be dancing in a ballet company as a professional ballerina. I am dedicated to honing my skills through rigorous training and continuous learning. I aspire to join a ballet company, perform in various productions, and share the wonder and beauty of ballet with as many people as possible.

The best feeling on stage is for me…
For me, the best feeling on stage is the joy of being able to express my emotions through dance, connecting with the audience, and the sense of accomplishment when I perform in a way that resonates with people.  And of course I like the warm applause after the dancing is finished.

What advice would you give younger dancers hoping to grow and achieve their dreams in dance?
Progress in ballet and dancing takes time and continuous effort. Even if you face difficulties or make slow progress, do not give up and work on it with enthusiasm. And it is important to take care of your body and stay positive, not comparing yourself to others.
