- Perform the relevant choral repertoire in an artistically compelling, professional manner, while taking into account all its stylistic components and the specific performance practice of the individual periods
- Competently lead advanced vocal ensembles in terms of choral conducting, rehearsal methodology and vocal training, while taking into account their particular methodological and didactic needs
- Set particular focuses thanks to specific internships and specializations in one or more forms of choral work (vocal ensembles, professional choirs, oratorio choirs, baroque ensembles, etc.)
- Expertly tailor their practical knowledge in conceptual project work to the basics in project and music management according to the situation at hand, and expand it themselves
- Implement their basic knowledge of cultural historical questions into the diverse, multicultural music environment.
- Expertly master different performance situations and master diverse production conditions with confidence
- Tailor their communication in a range of social settings to the situation at hand, work in a team, resolve conflicts in a constructive manner, show willingness to embrace a range of roles
- Show self-awareness and the ability to perceive and reflect on their own artistic work in different ways, which makes self-management, independence and resilience possible in the professional music field.

The Majors of the Department of Music offer the biggest range of instrumental and vocal programmes in Switzerland: conducting, choral conducting, jazz, pop, school music, music technology and composition in different subject areas. The extensive freedom to choose, interdisciplinary teaching formats and self-managed project work in the course allow you to benefit from such diversity and expand your horizons.

On the basis of the individual admissions requirements, the programme aims to develop your artistic, intellectual, explorative and social skills as you progress towards independence and professionalism. The individual support, particular emphasis on a general musical education and the wide range of courses support the continual, dynamic expression of your interests for your future professional development.
Prepared to undertake research.
The large number of lecturers in the research institutes guarantees that you will receive research-based tuition, in particular in musicology subjects. Basic research methodology is taught in the course as well, and you will document your general explorative perspective in the form of written and artistic project work. If you are interested and a suitable opportunity arises, active involvement in research projects is also possible.
