Of the 702 new students at the ZHdK, 306 enrolled for a Bachelor's or Master's degree programme in Music, 116 in Design, 85 in Fine Arts, 111 in Cultural Analysis and 84 in Performing Arts and Film.
Individual and interdisciplinary: launch of the new programme model
From this semester onwards, students will be able to choose their core subject area with their major. In addition, they can choose one or two minors, which deepen the competences from the major or expand them across disciplines. With this variety of choices, ZHdK enables students to develop and sharpen their own individual study profile.
The Major-Minor Programme Model will be introduced in stages. The Bachelor will start this autumn, the Master will follow in 2024, and the Minor will be open from 2024. Read more online.
"We are pleased to the start of the semester with this forward-looking model," says Karin Mairitsch, President of the ZHdK. "Our students set the course and choose whether they want to sharpen their skills in breadth or in depth. This enables them to look beyond their own horizons, which prepares them ideally and self-determinedly for a networked and digital working world."
Stable figures
A total of 2154 people are studying at the ZHdK. Of these, 1224 are taking one of the eight Bachelor's degree programmes and 930 one of the eleven Master's degree programmes. The number of students has remained constant compared to recent years. The ZHdK has a numerus clausus; prospective students have to go through a strict admission procedure beforehand.
