In parallel to the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan hosted the “SDGsXARTs Summit”. On this occasion, the “A7” (Arts 7) – the most important international higher art education institutions – came together to consolidate and strengthen their commitment to the implementation of the SDGs in art and culture, based on their experiences and the international network.
In a video message, ZHdK President Karin Mairitsch provides a statement for the event on how the arts and design can contribute to peacebuilding.
“The arts open up spaces and possibilities in order to respond to the conflicts of their time through diverse and unconventional methods. The arts are diagnosticians of time, seriously taking their role as a social sounding board. In this regard, the arts and design are becoming increasingly important in peacebuilding.”
