Arif Kornweitz (*1987) is an artist, a research fellow and a PhD candidate at the KIM Research Group on Critical Artificial Intelligence at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. His research explores the history of conflict prediction and the application of machine learning in the humanitarian sector, as part of the AI Forensics Consortium project. Arif holds an MSc in Conflict Resolution and Governance from the University of Amsterdam.
In addition to his research, Arif currently serves as the Head of a Master’s program at Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, focusing on fine arts practices that engage with music and AI. Previously, he has lectured at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and been a guest lecturer at Iceland University, ArtEZ Arnhem, the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe, and at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
Arif is also the co-founder of Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee, a curatorial platform for contemporary art, critical music, and sound. This platform reimagines radio as a space for artistic practice beyond traditional sound art. Additionally, Arif recently launched UUUSE, a label that explores the intersection of visual arts and electronic music.
