The ZHdK University Board has appointed Rama Gottfried to the position of Professor of Contemporary Computer Music Practice previously held by Prof. Dr. Martin Neukom. He will take up the post in August 2022.
Born in New York in 1977, Gottfried became a master student at the "Universitรคt der Kรผnste Berlin" in 2009, where he studied composition with Walter Zimmermann. In 2015, he received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied composition with Franck Bedrossian and interactive computer music with David Wessel, Edmund Campion and Adrian Freed at the Center for New Music and Audio Technologies (CNMAT).
Gottfried's works have been performed at the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, MaerzMusik, SPOR, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemรครer Musik, MATA, Klangwerkstatt, among others.
Since 2018 Gottfried has been working at the "Hochschule fรผr Musik und Theater Hamburg" as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer in the department of multimedia composition and since 2021 at the Hybrid Music Lab of the "Hochschule fรผr Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden".
