Biography
Ella Malherbe is a Swiss and Irish singer-songwriter and composer.
She is passionate by story telling through film music, sound design, songwriting, poetry and visual arts.
Ella graduated with 1st class honors from the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) in London as she acquired a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Musicianship, with Music For Moving Image.
She lately co-wrote the soundtrack of the award-wining 83' documentary "Cascadeuses", which won a Golden Eye at ZFF 2022, and was part of the official selection of the IDFA, International Documentary Festival Amsterdam as well as the Solothurner Filmtage 2023.
Both a composer and performer (guitar, vocals and keys), she has been releasing music, extensively playing across Europe, and has been broadcast nationally and internationally on radio and television since her teenage years.
Mainly with her indie-folk duo Marzella (2009-today), but also through collaborations with synth wave/pop band The Shamanics (2017-2019), and as a backing vocalist for Saint Saviour (Groove Armada) alongside Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral) (2014).
She was awarded the cultural prize from her home town as well as the "Prix Culturel du Nord Vaudois" in 2019 as encouragement for her career.
