Biography
Christoph Brünggel is a transdisciplinary artist whose work spans across electronic music, sound art and visual art. He is interested in the fragility and instability as well as the ecology and the complex entanglements of the human and non-human world. His practice is strongly rooted in fieldwork, using on-site experiences and sensory knowledge as catalysts for artistic work and reflection. He strives to explore forms of artistic mediation of specific, mostly socially ignored or unwanted places to raise awareness of their existence. His wide-ranging body of work includes composition, sound installation, experimental music performances, soundwalks, audiovisual performances, as well as sculptures, drawings, record- and bookmaking.
Christoph’s works were presented in various places and contexts such as music festivals and venues (Espacios Resonantes Festival Santiago de Chile, Shift Festival Basel, 3 Tage Strom Zurich, Mikser Festival Belgrade, Firefly Berlin, Helsinki Zurich), art spaces and galleries (Galeria Avenida da Índia Lisbon, Myanm/art Art Space Yangon, Galerie Bob Gysin Zurich and Lacoste, Helmhaus Zurich, Kunstraum Pro Arte Hallein), museums (Kunstmuseum Basel, Aargauer Kunsthaus Aarau, Kunstmuseum Thun, Centre PasquArt Biel/Bienne), off spaces and artist run places (zqm Berlin, Ruang Gulma Yogyakarta, Rumah Rawa Samarinda, ZigZagger Ho Chi Minh City, Kunstraum Aarau, Raw Art Space Kuala Lumpur), film festivals (Dokfest Kassel, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Videoex Zurich), theaters (Hundsturm/Volkstheater Vienna, Gessnerallee Zurich), and scientific symposia (FKL Soundstainability Lugano, CENSE Beyond Listening Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest).
