Biography
Samuel Huber is on a mission to introduce the planet-centric perspective to organizations of all kinds to enable them to transform towards a regenerative value generation.
At the ZCCE and ZHDK, he contributes his experience and network which he acquired during the many years being an active part of the startup and design ecosystems of Berlin, Tokyo and Zurich. Being both a design entrepreneur and researcher, he aims to translate between a variety of stakeholders that are participating in the centre’s many projects and research interests.
He holds a Ph.D. on the topic of “Strategizing as Prototyping” from the University of St. Gallen’s RISE Management Innovation Lab and continues to explore the interface of research and practice. Previously, his studies in sociology, economy, management, and design led him to the Universities of Zurich, St. Gallen, and all the way to Stanford and Keio in Tokyo.
Huber’s fascination for wicked problems and curiosity for uncertain situations have provided him with a variety of experiences: In his role as Strategy Director at Goodpatch, the leading digital design company in Japan, he led the development of a wide range of new offerings and capabilities. This included establishing the design research, design strategy, venture building and planet centric design offerings. In addition, he was directly involved in growing and developing the organization from a young and dynamic startup into a publicly listed company through a successful IPO in the Summer of 2020.
He was also a founding member of UBS Y, the future think tank of the world’s biggest wealth manager, worked long nights for ARTinAIR, a New York art gallery, and focused on development economics with Biovision. Now, he enjoys his work in interdisciplinary teams to conceptualize and develop anything from compression stockings to circular building technology platforms.
