About ZHdK & ICST
The Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is one of Europeโs leading arts universities with approximately 2,100 bachelor and master students and seven research institutes. Our degree and research programs include the fields of design, film, art, media, music, dance, theater, art education and transdisciplinary studies.
The Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology (ICST) was founded in 2005 and is active in research, education and musical creation. Besides the long-standing focus on three-dimensional sound projection, current research fields include Interfaces and Augmented Instruments, Audio Haptics, Auditory Perception, Telematic Performance, Performance Practice of Electroacoustic Music, Sound Design, Sound Moving Sources, Theory, Notation and Representation, Acoustic Ecology and Generative Art. The promotion of musical creation through residencies and the involvement of artists in research projects are among ICSTโs main concerns, reflecting the growing relevance of artistic research at ZHdK, and resulting in a broad spectrum of projects, performance practices and aesthetics.
Research at ICST overlaps closely with many TENOR conference topics, developing new tools and approaches for the integration of technology in artistic creation (e.g. notation for spatialization, hybrid performance, and poly-tempo practices). Further, new research directions in the interdisciplinary context offered by the ZHdK and greater Zurich artistic scene inspire new fields of reflection related to the TENOR community.
About TENOR
The International Conference on Technologies for Music Notation and Representation is dedicated to issues in theoretical and applied research and development in Music Notation and Representation, with a strong focus on computer tools and applications, as well as a tight connection to music creation. "Technology" in the conference name refers to any mean that may contribute to the notation, representation and/or visualisation of music and sound for purposes that may include (but not limited to) music composition, performance, representation, transcription, analysis and pedagogy.
