As the environments around us transform or disappear due to climate change and human activity, places, living organisms, and human cultures are vanishing before our very eyes before we can catalogue them.
โImpermanent Earthโ is a digital archive and art project that was created to respond to these changes and fill the gap between scientific research, professional journalism, and oral storytelling. The project seeks to gather local stories of changing spaces across all forms of media to preserve collective memory. Moreover, it also offers us a medium through which to reflect on the altered world around us. As the project grows and new entries are added, we may be able to gain a better understanding of the effect that climate change is having on our lives, and how people in other locations are dealing with and adapting to it.
