As part of the ZHdK project “Arts for Change”, partnerships have started with École Supérieure de Théâtre (Higher College of Theatre) Jean-Pierre Guingané (formerly CFRAV), the University of Ouaga 1 (Lettres, Langues et Arts), the international theatre festival “les récréatrâles” and Saint Viateur primary school. The specific goal of the individual projects was to explore theatre as a force for social exchange processes and to practise narrative intentions between societal criticism and empathy for audiences of various subcultures.
From 2016 to 2019, five teaching modules were designed and implemented together with the partners in Ouagadougou. A total of 25 students from Zurich (practice fields of Theatre Education, Dramaturgy, Directing and Stage Design) and from Ouagadougou (École Supérieure de Théâtre Jean-Pierre Guingané and the University of Ouaga 1 ) have taken part.
The content focus on research procedures and dialogical communication formats as well as the establishment of transnational models of co-teaching and reciprocal visits on a structural level are guiding factors, and were conducted in the field of practice of Theatre Education.
As a result of Covid-19, the second part of the second edition of the“Communicate Research” module (collaboration with the École Supérieure de Théâtre Jean-Pierre Guingané, Ouagadougou) had to be postponed from May 2020 to December 2020 at the earliest.
However, the main problem of this project continues to be long-term, stable financing of the partnership.
