The nature of creative work is changing. Being an artist nowadays requires entrepreneurship, global connectedness and digital literacy. These are competencies, which are best taught outside of the classroom โ in communities of practice.
'Turntables: Learn! Fostering transcultural communities of practice' aims to equip artists and cultural practitioners for growth and success in the creative industries, as well as to foster sustainable learning, knowledge sharing and cultural mobility. Co-funded by Movetia, the project is a partnership between artlink (Bern; project lead), the Zurich Centre for Creative Economies (ZCCE) at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) (Zurich), Mekong Cultural Hub (Cambodia/Taiwan), Black Rhino VR (Kenya), and Meta Arts (India), thereby enhancing collaboration between the creative sector, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) as well as enabling mutual learning.
With its long-standing expertise in the field of creative economies, ZHdKโs ZCCE will contribute to the project in co-developing and delivering a Designing Learning workshop, co-hosting a roundtable session, and organising a conference and study tour. ZHdKโs new Minor programme on Creative Economies will equally benefit from the participation in the project through the strengthening of practice-based approaches.
