Hic et Nunc develops interdisciplinary teaching formats that address the our responsibility as citizens and designers in relation to mass movement. The courses developed at ZHdK in the context of design education and in cooperation with the Zurich-based professional organisation AOZ offer Bachelor students the opportunity to meet the manifold challenges in the context of migration, to critically reflect on these challenges, but above all to experience the direct impact of their actions as designers.
Hic et Nunc wants to show that as designers we can work together with the refugees living among us to improve their โ and thus our โ living conditions directly, in everyday practice, here and now. We want to engage actively with the effects of this global crisis and to see it not as an abstract problem, but as part of our own reality. We confront the theoretical debate in the academic comfort zone directly with a real emergency situation in our immediate surroundings โ Hall 9 in Oerlikon, a temporary housing estate for refugees operated by the AOZ Zurich.
Since 1 February 2019, Hic et Nunc is present at Fogo Areal with the โOfficinaโ space. The aim is to develop and conduct new projects in cooperation with AOZ Zurich, ZHdK and other partners.
