Developing the 2020 year’s funds, 2021 promotes departmental start-up for structural changes. Botanically speaking, "buddings" of art & science will be amalgamated with fertile motions, practice-based projects to blossom therein.

After promoting gaps in and around artistic research projects, as spaces, sizes, and interactions, between expectations and deliverables, following artistic thrives – after The gapin the fence for the rabbit to dart through–, the gap as “the other”, as productive difference in collaborative research, shared experience of useful inconsistency, as gainful aperture, helpful blank time and prolific empty space, the 2021 interns focus on Nurturing the Groundsby building the Wraps, enabling the presentby un-taming a frame.
Ziel: Pursuing the practice based aesthetic strategy as service in topos of our major school changes, peers to prosper on new types of Research withfilm, dance or theatre thrive. Seeing by doing, the research becomes the narrative.
This internal project supports our productive fractures and constructive interludes, differences and interruptions, gratifying the notch of beneficial ruptures, rewarding hiatus and advantageous slits & slots. It maps the gaps and rounds the grounds of the institute by eroding the distance between questions and answers, nurses the wounds of innovation and intentions. It develops, grants, secures and sustains (as much as feasible) the following endeavors:
- a sustainable interweaving of research with teaching and vice versa
- recurring colloquia on selected topics coming from faculty members
- support active participation in conferences, festivals, workshops for networking, mutual awareness and dissemination of research results within a wider artistic-scientific community
- selected platforms such as workshops, conferences, congresses
- alternatives to third-party funded (such as SNSF project) research
- maintenance and expansion of the international network, especially but not exclusively with Graz, Potsdam-Babelsberg, Stockholm, Hamburg, Berlin
- support for network and start-ups for doctoral projects (also submission to doc.ch and further funding vehicles)
- integration of digitalization
- Human resources and supervision skills, support infrastructure and workplaces for junior staff development, Mittelbau (3rd cycle), differentiation at professor’s model outline; "Networks of Practice" in research and teaching
- Bringing together research topics between faculty and their support systems (essentially PEERS and PhD students)
- topic-related launch + promotion of doctoral theses
- Expansion of quality culture, Q-management for R&D organization; Comparative Network eQ
- award research-relevant master theses
- basics for installing a module "Fundamentals of Research" in the Master's program as preparation for Artistic Research minors
- Funding and support of IPF-Researchers in Residence (RiRi)
- Cooperation with R&D, PhD and peer’s strategies of other departments of the ZHdK
- Dynamo,the low-level booster scope on the pitfalls and bottlenecks of disciplines.
