Linley Marthe: A journey of mastery and cultural fusion
Linley Marthe, a virtuoso musician, embarks on a musical journey that transcends boundaries and genres. A self-taught musician, Marthe's musical odyssey began in his youth when he played various instruments. In his early years, he played in Mauritius from 1986 to 1991, laying the foundations for his illustrious career.
Marthe's cultural heritage serves as a rich tapestry that interweaves the vibrant rhythms of jazz with the melodies of Africa and the complex compositions of India.
Of particular note is the Grammy Award he received for his outstanding performance at the Zawinul Syndicate's 75th birthday show in Lugano in 2007. On Joe Zawinul's passing, he appointed Linley to be the future leader of the "Syndicate".
In 2003, Marthe's journey took a significant turn when he became a permanent member of the Joe Zawinul Syndicate, leaving an unforgettable impression with his electrifying performances until Zawinul's death. With his unsurpassed ability, dynamic playing and innate sense of rhythm, Marthe continues to mesmerize audiences worldwide, leaving an unforgettable mark on the landscape of contemporary music.
