The research project explores the human fascination with teleportation and transformation, tracing its presence in myths, stories, and arts as an expression of the desire to transcend the limitations of human nature. Approached from an artist's perspective, the study engages with storytelling as a primary method, untethered by judgment, shame or guilt and fueled by memory and imagination. The investigation begins from a standpoint of unity rather than separation, progressively unveiling the researcher's existential inquiries.
Teleportation and transformation narratives typically unfold in three stages: the initial state, the transformative moment, and the resultant condition. This research focuses on the transformative moment – a boundary where reality and fiction blur – explored through meetings with children, individuals with schizophrenia, and people in love. Elaboration on the collected material along with investigation of the habitat and self-investigation, have been the main approaches on the theme.
The work contributes to speculative, transdisciplinary artistic research, offering insights into the metaphysical aspects of daily life and the in-between moments of teleportation and transformation. It positions itself as a resource for people interested in exploring non-normative states of being and becoming, promoting interconnectedness and understanding through a blend of low-tech immersive arts, literature and installation. It may function as a portal: an emergency exit for artists and art students in crisis, and as an entrance for others who find themselves accepting crisis as a normal state of being. As a portal, it aspires to become the crossroad or meeting passage of a potential imaginative community that shares its values.
