BIOGRAFIE
Merlin began his studies in scenography and environmental science in Halifax and Montreal, where he learned traditional methods of theatrical design while developing a deeper awareness of global environmental challenges. During his Master’s studies at ZHdK, he synthesized his design skills and passion for sustainability and explored the parameters of scenic spaces beyond the stage. His work seeks to create environments that foster connections between diverse communities through art and theatre. Often stimulated from his walks around the city, meeting the many characters who inhabit it – he considers the spectacle of the shifting urban landscape a work of theater which inspires and prompts him to play within it.
DIPLOMPROJEKT
What does a local kiosk, a moving truck, a billboard and a mixture of seemingly unconnected performances have in common? This immersive experience blends together multiple stages creating a social collage around Baki's Kiosk “Am Damm” to tell the story of arts role in bringing different communities together and sharing thoughts and ideas (even if they can sometimes be contradictory).
