Nicola Genovese's artistic practice encompasses sculpture, video, performance and music and critically examines the aesthetics that shape masculinity and class identities in Western societies. As an Italian immigrant residing in Switzerland, Nicola Genovese frequently assumes the roles of the Fool, the Punk and the Pierrot in his performances and theatre pieces.
After graduating from the ZHdK, Nicola Genovese studied for a PhD in Creative Work at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa. His work has recently been exhibited and performed at various venues in Zurich, Geneva, Locarno and the Wits Art Museum in Johannesburg. In 2024 he was awarded the work scholarship of the Canton of Zurich.
Every semester, ZHdK's Department of Fine Arts presents a series of public talks with various guests from the contemporary art and culture sector. All talks are held in English. Admission is free and no registration is required.
