Distant Creative & Collaborative Practices are an established practice at ZHdK, as well as a central object of research; thus, in the area of telematics or in the research project Actor and Avatar. ZHdK is also involved as a partner institution of the Shared Campus platform. Another issue which touches on the topic of Distant Creative & Collaborative Practices is the question of how informal creative exchange can be facilitated in the digital world; answers to this include the creation of a Digital Twin of the Toni-Areal building.
Everyday working life at ZHdK is also shaped by Distant Creative & Collaborative Practices. The programme Digital Skills & Spaces, for instance, addresses the question of which tools and methods best support digital collaboration, especially in the creative sector. Thus, as part of the project NEAR (โNeue Arbeitsrรคumeโ), a room โSHIFTโ was created, designed to support hybrid collaboration with flexible furniture and a mobile video conferencing system.
Knowledge about Distant Creative & Collaborative Practices such as it is generated at ZHdK is, of course, not only relevant in the arts and in design. Therefore, ZHdK representatives initiate projects and events to disseminate their expertise beyond the boundaries of the university, for example as part of the Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH).
