From Home-X...
It was the topic of the summer of 2020: "Home-X", where the "X" stands for working, teaching, learning and researching. So the term encompasses working from home, home teaching, study@home and research@home, as well as home schooling or private activities like fitness@home. What happens when all the different worlds in which we operate suddenly come together? How has and will this change the world of work? How can we continue to support working from home and develop its positive aspects? What would be a good balance between presence at work and working from home in a "new normality", and how do we create parity between the jobs that lend themselves to working from home and those that do not? These and similar questions are addressed under the heading "Home-X"; for further information, please contact Susanne Schumacher.

The continuing importance of Home-X has, in turn, had a direct impact on the use of the university premises. Online meetings have become an everyday part of working life, in the Toni-Areal building as much as elsewhere. At the same time, face-to-face teaching, research and work meetings are given a new importance. The corresponding changes in room occupancy and use place new demands on the premises, with hybrid constellations posing a particular challenge. In the wake of Home-X, the Toni-Areal building is also undergoing transformation. Under the heading "Spaces", the programme Digital Skills & Spaces deals with questions about the spatial requirements for the working world of the future.
