In line with its annual theme "ZHdK+Futures Thinking", the Digital Council initiated the workshop "Atelier Futures" in early March, thus following on from the workshop series "ViVisions" (2021/2022). The aim was not to predict "the" future of ZHdK, but rather to get to know and apply various methods of Futures Thinking, and to develop possible future scenarios on the basis of a current issue from the university. The workshop was organised and accompanied by the Berliner Ideenlabor.
In a short introduction, the participants were introduced to the principles and methods of Futures Thinking. On this basis, three groups developed a vision each, on the theme of "The University of the Arts of the future designs interfaces between humans and machines and consciously uses the interplay of physical and digital practices". The groups were then invited to present their vision as an immersive prototype. The final presentation of these prototypes showed the range of possibilities that the participants had envisaged. From a nature-based, practically non-digital ZHdK with a "mothership" in the Toni-Areal, to a Z"hack"dK, to a university as a spiritual experience: the images of the future that emerged give rise to further reflection and discussion.
With this in mind, the results from the workshop are displayed on a hybrid "Futures Wall" online and in Corridor E on Level 5 in the Toni-Areal, for all to see and discuss.
