The CS Award for Best Teaching 2020, which is awarded by the Credit Suisse Foundation, recognizes outstanding achievements by lecturers. It serves to promote the quality of teaching at university level. The prize is awarded on a rotational basis every three years at one of the three sub-schools of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences for the first time in a dialog-based jury process. In groups, students, teachers and other ZHdK members discussed didactics, methods and essential factors for good teaching in the Corona year.
"The Ljubljana Model": Digital excursions have a future
With "The Ljubljana Model" Fine Arts lecturers Sadie Plant and Rico Scagliola presented their virtual study trip. Instead of canceling the planned field trip due to the Corona crisis in April, it took place in front of screens - with online museum visits, Zoom Talks with Slovenian artists, smartphone studio tours and cooking Slovenian ravioli. "The study tour was a very collaborative process. A digital field trip is particularly suited to that because you're feeling your way forward together and exploring the possibilities of the digital space," Scagliola says. Sadie Plant emphasizes the level of flexibility and spontaneity that would not have been possible in analog.
