Artistsโ careers and business models are rarely linear and subject to rapid and relentless change โ caused, for example, by digitalisation. We study and analyse these developments using a variety of innovative research methods and have published numerous articles and studies on the sociology of change in the creative class and on new economic models for artists.
The Z-Kubator promotes the development of independent artists, cultural producers and designers at ZHdK by linking artistic or design ideas with entrepreneurial practices. Support is given to ZHdK students and graduates seeking to contribute to the cultural and creative industries through independent, non-commercial cultural and design projects or through start-ups. As an experimental learning laboratory, the Z-Kubator offers the necessary space and infrastructure for developing and testing new business and operating models. The โZโ represents our specific interpretation of project and innovation support for new ventures: Ensuring flexibility and agility in organisational terms, responding to the needs of artists and designers and establishing networks.
