Biografie
Born in 1997 in Madrid, Iker Sáez-Liébana began his flute studies at the age of 7 in Madrid with Vicent Cintero.
He made an exchange with a Berlin school at age of 14 and he took private lessons with Mathieu Gaucho-Ancelin (Komische Oper Berlin), Silvia Careddu (Wiener Philharmoniker) or Emmanuel Pahud (Berliner Philharmoniker). He repeated this exchange until 2013 (aged 16). In 2015 he graduated with honours at "Teresa Berganza" Conservatory in Madrid. The same year he got chosen for the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra, working during the summer with masters such as Daniel Harding, Dima Slobodeniouk or Yuri Bashmet. In 2015 and 2016 he was main reserve flute at the SHMF (Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival).
In 2012 he performed Vivaldi's Flute Concerto in F Major with the Madrid Sinfonietta in diverse Spanish cities.
On September 2015 he won the "Ferrer-Salat" Foundation full scholarship to study at Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona with Christian Farroni and Isabel Souto. This two years he also studied privately with Aleksandra Miletic (Liceu Opera Orchestra of Barcelona) Two years later, he moved to Zurich to finish his Bachelor in Music at the ZHdK with Philippe Racine, Sabine Poyé-Morel and Haika Lübcke.
From June 2017 until September 2019 he was member of the Madrid Youth Symphony Orchestra and Choir (JORCAM) and in 2017 and 2018 he worked with professional orchestras such as Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam or Madrid Symphony Orchestra and Choir (ORCAM).
On June 2019 he got chosen for the Youth National Orchestra of Switzerland (SJSO), where he's currently playing. Since September 2019 he's doing a Praktikum / Voluntary in the Zurich Opera House (Opernhaus Zürich), while doing the Master Specialized Orchestra at the ZHdK.
Since 2012 but not regularly, he becomes private lessons with great flute players such as Emmanuel Pahud, Silvia Careddu or Riccardo Ghiani.
