University Office

The University Office assists prospective and current ZHdK students with all general queries and concerns.
The University Office team provides administrative support and advice throughout the student’s academic journey, from application and enrolment through to graduation and leaving ZHdK. They can also advise students on their finance, insurance, visa and accommodation issues, and about living in Zurich, etc.
Specific queries relating to a degree programme should be addressed to the relevant Specialization Office.

  • Copies of degree certificates
    Copies of an acceptable original can be provided, certified as a true copy of the original with the ZHdK stamp. Copies can also be certified by the Zurich Office of Universities (Hochschulamt) or a Notary’s office.
    For an officially certified copy, please contact your nearest notary’s office.

    Degree certificate transcripts
    Only one original of a degree certificate can be issued. A transcript of the original document (in the same language) can be provided. The fee for this service is 250 CHF, payable in advance.

    Translation of degree certificates
    The translation of degree documents is the responsibility of the students / alumni. Documents can be translated by a translation agency of your choice, certified by a notary and, if required, supplementary certified by the State Chancellery (Staatskanzlei) of the Canton of Zurich.

  • FH, HGK degree titles under the old system
    Degree titles granted under the old system remain protected after the changeover to the Bachelor/Master system, and may be used as before. Holders of these degree titles may also use the title “Bachelor of Arts” – ZHdK can issue confirmation to this effect if required. There is no title conversion process as such.

    Degrees without the FH or HGK title
    Holders of degrees without the FH or HGK title can apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI) to have their degree converted into a University of Applied Sciences degree. Only when this has been done will ZHdK be able to confirm that the holder may also use the title “Bachelor of Arts”.
    According to the Resolution of the Federal Department for Economic Affairs, Federal Agency for Vocational Education and Technology (BBT) of 10 January 2011, no equivalence confirmations for the Master’s degree may be issued in the Art subject area (Art and Fine Arts degree programmes).

    As a general rule, equivalence confirmations for the Master’s degree may be issued only in the subject area of Music.
    Orders for degree certificate copies and transcripts, degree title conversions and equivalence confirmations must be submitted in writing by email. The following information will be required:
    _ Surname and first name (including name during completion of the study programme, if different)
    _ Date of birth
    _ Current address
    _ Subject area of degree
    _ Study start and end dates
    _ Copy of degree certificate

    The process can be expected to take one week, since your file will have to be retrieved from the archive.
