The specialization in Directing is closely linked to various city theatres in Switzerland as well as to the independent scene in Zurich to support its students' and graduates' transition into the job world in maniforld ways. There are, for example, cooperations with the Gessnerallee theatre or Theater Neumarkt where students can regularly present their works in different formats. The programme also coninuingly collaborates with Dramenprozessor (drama processor), the most important platform for the promotion of contemporary writer's theatre in Switzerland.
Students of the specialization in Directing are integrated in the development of the plays and take the responsibility for the public workshop productions in a professional theatre context. While conducting their studies, Directing students are invited to develop a production in a professional environment at the Theater St. Gallen directing studio.
Since the internationalization of theatre productions is a crucial aspect of the director's profession, the programme regularly offers projects with international partner schools like the Stockholm University of the Arts, ArtEZ in Arnhem, the School of Visual Arts in New York and other institutions.
International guest lecturers help increase the students' network beyond the borders of the German-speaking theatre scene.
