Sound Engineering
Sound engineers combine a passion for music with an enthusiasm for technology and audio production. They are the links between music and audio engineering and operate at the highest level in both professional fields.
Studying at ZHdK takes place at one of the largest and most vital art colleges in Europe, surrounded by excellent lecturers, inspiring students and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Graduates manage music productions from conception to post-production.
They take on complex sound reinforcement tasks, can be found in development departments of audio technology and leading positions in sound technology in film and television, as freelance music producers and musicians, as well as in theatres and opera houses.
Education at ZHdK includes the degree programmes Bachelor of Arts in Music and Master of Arts in Composition and Theory, Sound Engineering. It is based in the Composition / Theory profile.
Degree programmes
The ZHdK's PreCollege Music offers young interested students the opportunity to optimally prepare for admission to the Bachelor's degree programme in Sound Engineering.
The Bachelor's programme consists of an audio technology and a music part. Depending on the stylistic orientation, the latter is completed together with classical, jazz or pop students with an instrumental major. In the technical part, cross-profiled subjects from audio and electrical engineering, music production, mathematics and computer science are added.
The Master's programme continues the content from the Bachelor's programme, sharpens the individual profile and also offers freedom to deepen knowledge in music production and audio engineering.
The Career Center Musik enables a successful start into professional life.
The Further Education CAS Sound Engineering provides musicians with knowledge in recording and music transmission technology as well as the basics of music editing.
