Content and structure of the programme
Doctoral students enrolled in either programme will benefit from the following offerings and opportunities at the Departement of Performing Arts and Film at ZHdK:
- An innovative and pluralistic research environment in the field of artistic research; a committed and diverse community of experts; the opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge with peers and experts; the opportunity to connect with artistic research networks.
- Supervision by experienced supervisors at ZHdK and a partner university.
- Active involvement in the Department of Performing Arts and Film’s Junior Research Group, established to experiment with innovative formats for sharing knowledge and to ensure continuous peer-to-peer mentoring.
- Further training through colloquia, workshops and other events (e.g. PhD Summer School), including the opportunity to exchange ideas with other arts disciplines (e.g. music, visual arts and design).
- The chance to gain teaching experience at an arts university (optional).
- Access to ZHdK’s infrastructure (studios, labs, equipment, stages).
- Production budget (up to CHF 10,000 per person) for the practical part of the doctorate; access to funding and contributions to travel expenses.
- Individual support and mentoring; opportunities for emerging opportunities to present their work and to raise their profile.
