In my work, I particularly focus on family dynamics and the fine nuances of interpersonal interactions. I am fascinated by patterns that repeat themselves between parents and children. I often wonder how we are shaped by the past and pass it on to the next generation.
My diploma film deals with a mother-daughter relationship. This is strongly influenced by cultural differences – the mother is rooted in Croatia, while the daughter grew up in Switzerland. It is fascinating to observe how culture and upbringing shape our understanding of relationships.
On Control and the Courage to let go
Art happens in the moment when the balancing act between control and letting go is achieved. This is a theme that runs through my work. In filmmaking, this process is particularly intense because many people work together and the movie often develops its own dynamic. Within a film crew, different ways of working come together, and as a director, I must adapt to them without losing sight of my own vision. It is precisely this combination that makes filmmaking so exciting for me.
With Openness into the Future
I look forward to the future after my studies at ZHdK with openness and curiosity. I would like to continue making films in a respectful and creative environment in the future. I really appreciate working with my colleagues and living in Zurich. I have built up a great network here that is very close to my heart and that I want to continue to cultivate in the future. At the same time, it is clear to me that I want to continue telling personal and intimate stories – that is my passion. The next step is the festival tour of my debut film “Between Us”. For me, the best thing is when a project not only touches the audience but also inspires the team working on it.
