The IfCAR, Institute for Contemporary Art Research is the research department of the Department of Fine Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts. Set up in 2005, the institute is committed to artistic research and other closely related research in the contemporary visual arts.

Pre/Doc Program Transforming Environments

Transforming Environments is a peer-group for practice-based PhDs at the Department of Fine Arts. It situates artistic research in the context of urgent matters and open questions that emerge from current living conditions. The participants projects focus on social, political, or cultural situations which call for rethinking and action.
