On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Heinz Bosl Foundation on 11 November 2018, the Heinz Bosl Prize was awarded to three promising young male dancers- Koyo Yamamoto (Zurich Dance Academy), Gabriel Figueredo (John Cranko School) and Justin Rimke (Junior Company of Bavarian State Ballet).
17-year-old taZ student Koyo Yamamoto from Japan had the honour of personally accepting the prize at the National Theatre in Munich after dancing the princeโs classical variation from Act Two of The Nutcracker.
One of the original objectives of the Heinz Bosl Foundation was to promote young male dancers. Konstanze Vernon (1939โ2013), prima ballerina of the Bavarian State Opera from 1963 to 1980, and the former โshooting starโ Heinz Bosl, were the dream couple of Munichโs ballet audience for almost ten years. When Heinz Bosl died in 1975, after a serious illness, Vernon was keen to pay tribute to this exceptional German dancer by establishing the Heinz Bosl Foundation.
