The Documentary Film Prize of the Alexis Victor Thalberg Foundation, endowed at 35,000 Swiss francs, was awarded for the twelfth time on 6 May. Out of 10 submitted documentary films created by students across different departments of the Zurich University of the Arts, 5 documentary films were awarded. According to the jury, the submitted works were characterised by a wide range of form and content.
The main prizes went to Lesia Kordonets (director, camera, sound and editing) for "Pushing Boundaries", to Julia Furer (director), Marielle Pohlmann (editing) and Moritz Widrig (composition) for "Love Will Come Later", to Alan Sahin (director) for "Zigipouse", to Annik Faivre and Fabienne Steiner (camera) for "Onur Calling" and to Tobias Wanner (director) for "Klemens โ aus Liebe zu den Dingen".
A special mention went to Elena Clavadetscher and Yvonne Haberstroh (co-direction) for "Vergiss mich nie".
The jury consisted of Aurelio Buchwalder, documentary filmmaker and winner of the Documentary Film Prize of the Alexis Victor Thalberg Foundation 2020, Chantal Haunreiter, Deputy Head of Studies Film (Department of Performing Arts and Film), Nico Lypitkas, Head of Bachelor Cast (Department of Design), Gayatri Parameswaran, producer and documentary filmmaker, and Maurizius Staerkle-Drux, lecturer and documentary filmmaker.
On Friday, 6 May, a workshop was held by Gayatri Parameswaran for all nominated filmmakers in the Immersive Arts Space.
