Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy
The Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy programme focuses on developing a dual identity of musician and educationalist. The degree programme is offered in a number of specializations, which in turn are divided into core subjects or profiles.
The goals of the programme are to gain a deeper understanding of music, to develop an independent artistic personality, and the acquisition of pedagogic and didactic skills and knowledge. The three specializations offered are designed around professional practice and aim to develop experts in their field
- for professional music tuition for instruments or voice, individually or with a group, including other teaching options such as ensembles or events built around the music schools, junior secondary schools or as part of individual tuition (specialization in Instrumental/Vocal Music Pedagogy),
- for designing learning processes in class teaching at secondary I level and in upper secondary school education at secondary II level (specialization in School Music) or
- for working with music and movement with target groups in a broader occupational field:
parents and children (from 0–5 years), Lebensraum schools (children from five to twelve years), adult education, concert pedagogy or special needs education using music (specialization in Music and Movement).
The graduates exercise their profession with skill and creativity, and are coached so they are equipped to continue developing their chosen career to keep pace with the constantly changing professional demand. During the degree programme, they also discover how important the practical work of a musician is as a basis for pedagogical activity.
